Liquor Liability/Dram Shop

The Dram Shop Act – the civil liability section on the Michigan Liquor Control Code – governs liquor liability claims in Michigan. Under this section, an injured person may have recourse against liquor license holders if the injuries occurred as a result of serving liquor to either a minor or a visibly intoxicated person.

Our firm’s skill in early case assessment and trial practice is tested nowhere as severely as in these cases. The claimants can be innocent victims with tragic injuries. Frequently, the conduct and appearance of the alleged intoxicated person is indefensible. Early case assessment for settlement is always a good practice, but in cases where the insurance limits are comparatively small it is vital for effective claim management.
